Walks around Widecombe
Terry French's popular guided walks around Widecombe are on the last Friday of the month up to 23rd August
After a lifetime of living and working all around Widecombe Terry French has an unparalleled knowledge of local history. As Chairman of Widecombe History Group he has volunteered for another summer of guided walks around Widecombe. Terry’s primary motivation is passing on his knowledge to others - and a genuine love for meeting visitors to the village. There is no fixed charge but donations are welcome. All proceeds go to Widecombe History Group, a registered charity.
Local residents probably know much of the history that Terry talks about - but he can be relied upon to uncover some surprising aspects of village life. If you have family or friends visiting this summer, joining one of these walking tours would be an entertaining introduction to life in Widecombe over the centuries.
There is no need to book in advance. Simply join Terry outside the Cafe on the Green at 10.30 am on these days:
Friday 24th May
Friday 28th June
Friday 26th July

Terry and others will run Guided Walks from the Church House throughout the day. History Day features a FREE exhibition in the Church House where traditional Devon Cream Teas and other refreshments will be available from 11 am - 3.30 pm.
